Christmas Eve Ruminations

Sitting here drinking coffee, my dog enjoying her new holiday bone, and my husband trying to catch a few more winks since he worked yesterday and is working tomorrow... Ahhh, hospital life.

I've been working holidays my whole career as a nurse, 37 years to be exact. But it was always ok with me because you get to be the bright spot in someone's day who can't be at home with their family. Also very thankful that all of those years the girls were alive, in and out of the hospital, none of them were ever in the hospital on Christmas. We were always able to get them home before Christmas day.

In fact, one year, I think Megan was in kindergarten, and she didn't want to miss the Christmas show at school. So we set it up for her to come home, still with her "long line" in so we could do the IV antibiotics, and she put on her little black velvet dress and got up on that stage to perform.... Just one of so many stories that are evidence to nothing stopping my girls from living, despite the Cystic Fibrosis they were born with.

Now, today I sit here, sharing my memories with all of you who have joined me on this journey. Thank you. It's comforting to be in a place where you can talk about and share your memories without getting too sad. Don't get me wrong, I wish the girls were here right now. But on the other hand, we had so many wonderful years together.... Lol.... Even the teenage years. With the girls being each a year apart, those years when they were 12, 13,&14...13, 14 & But I'm thriving. Despite the pain of losing the girls, Divorce, abuse, walking away from toxic people... I started my healing journey back in 2003 when I had gastric bypass surgery. Then in 2007 when Jenny died, I went into therapy. Those six years of therapy saved my life. And I'm here to tell you, you can not only survive, but eventually you can thrive.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you reading this blog. Thank you for being you. And you are always enough 😊🎄🎁

I apologize

I am still working from home, thank the Lord!! I don't know if it will stay this way, but if I could have one wish, it would be to stay working from home until retirement. There are some other issues
